Both are great horses to ride. The wild mustang program offers Mustangs for very little money. They have a few regulations you must follow to get one of these horses, but they are available and offer a great value. Mustangs are not all wild and even if they were, they can be trained. I apologize for the first writer's lack of understanding. He doesn't understand much about the equine field.

∙ 13y agoDecades ago there may not have been much of a difference. Todays Quarter Horses are from very selective breeding and are more refined, usually larger, more heavily muscled, defined pretty heads and very expressive eyes. They are much more diversified with many different 'types' for different jobs and styles of riding. A QH for cutting or reining looks very different from a QH used as a hunter.

A Quarter horse can sprint for a quarter mile (440 yards) at speeds of 40 to 55 MPH, after that however their speed will decrease greatly as they are not bred to have endurance. A mustang will gallop at speeds of 18 to 25 MPH, they would likely be able to pass the Quarter horse after the quarter mile sprint.
