HOUSE

Pros:

- Can have more freedom knowing you aren't stomping the floor over someone's head or that the neighbor on the other side of the wall doesn't want to hear your television or music.

- May have your own backyard.

Cons:

- If you buy a house, consider the finances involved. Down payment, insurance, property taxes, and other costs such as ongoing maintenance. You may eventually have to replace the roof, re-wire the home, weatherize, and keep up with repairs.

- monthly rent for a house may be higher than for an apartment.

- Mow your own lawn or hire someone to do it.

- Laundry - either go out to do your laundry or invest in a washing machine/dryer.

APARTMENT

Pros:

- May be smaller than a house, and simpler to care for.

- You can call maintenance when there's a problem with the building, Plumbing, etc.

- Landlord pays for general upkeep of house and grounds.

- Possibly no lawn to mow.

- Monthly rent may be cheaper than a house.

- May be smaller than a house, with lower utility charges.

- May have laundry, pool, tennis, and other amenities.

Cons:

- May be noisy.

- Have close neighbors.

- Can't make noise.

- May not have a front or backyard.

- May have restrictions to parking, visitors, and curfews.
