I can't help much, except to say I have a painting by 'H L Koller' (a misty forest scene), which I purchased in Ottawa in 1987. The piece was in the stockroom of the gallery, and seemed quite underpriced at about $200. It was later appraised at about $2000 (not that I necessarily trust art appraisals). I think the artist lives in Niagara falls, Ont.
There was a painter by this name: Karl Heinz Koller (Austrian, 1943-1995)
Anyone can take a snapshot. Sometimes they turn out good enough. A photographer such as you are thiking about is an artist. He has the talent and experience to make a portrait of a person that is a work of art. If you want something really good, his work is worth the price.
Wallace Nutting was a photographer and not a painter. If there is a painting called "Nashua Asleep", it is quite possibly a copy painted by an artist that admired his photograph of the same name.
Anne Ferran is considered a contemporary and postmodern Australian artist/photographer who has appropriated images from classical and neoclassical.
