It may NOT be a leaky radiator.

However, you may wish to check your upper and lower radiator hoses and tighten all of the fittings (if necessary), and also trace the hoses all the way down to where they meet the engine.

Be on the look-out for dry-rot and be looking for spots that might be bulging out. The bulging spots could indicate that the hose is ready to burst.

It is best to conduct this inspection while the vehicle IS running and HAS BEEN running for a few minutes so that it is warmed up.

BE SURE to be VERY careful because radiator hoses are HOT, and engine compartments are intentionally small.

P.s: IF you can identify to the location and actually SEE the steam coming directly from your radiator, then yes, you DO have leak in your radiator.

What could cause smoke coming from the Radiator Fan?

If the smoke is coming from the electric fan itself, then it needs replacing. It could be the smoke is steam that the fan is drawing from the radiator, and you have a coolant leak at the radiator.

You just replaced your radiator and overflow tank on your 1997 Cadillac Deville Concourse It doesn't overheat but smokes from under the hood What is the problem?

check radiator for small leaks or cooling lines which would most definitely cause it 2 steam when running after awhile

Why does coolant boil out of radiator?

radiator bluesWhen the water runs out of the radiator, it either means that the radiator is cracked, which means that its building steam inside your radiator. building the steam inside your radiator raises the temperature of your engine causing it to overheat and steam up on you.Depending upon where the water is coming from, the solution could be as simple as tightening or replacing the radiator cap, or tightening or replacing the drain plug,or tightening hose clamps. Check those things before proceeding.

How can I stop steam radiator from banging?

It depends on the type of system you have. 1 pipe in, or 1 pipe in and 1 pipe out. Single pipe in/out, try replacing the relief valve or simply shimming the end of the radiator opposite where the pipe comes in. This lets water bleed out of the radiator and stops the klanging.

If there is no water in the oil but the engine is hot and the radiator is empty and white steam is coming out of the tailpipe is it possible that the head gasket broke only on 1 side and is not mixing with oil?

It could be a head gasket or a cracked head. Look at the exhaust manifold for each cylinder on the side that has the white smoke, the cylinder that has the leak will cause that port on the manifold to get super hot. One way to quickly identify which port is to spray some cheap black (or color of choice) paint on the exhaust manifold and fill the radiator and start the engine. The paint on the bad cylinder will burn off first.

Steam coming from around my radiator in a Nissan largo?

you have a leak in a hose or your radiator itself. Look for antifreeze dripping from under car while engine is running and hot enough for the fan to kick on.

When my car gets hot there is white smoke coming from radiator?

That smoke is steam. You have a leak in the radiator or a hose. Take it to a mechanic.

How do you know wen your head gaskets are bad?

You may have bad head gaskets when, you are losing engine coolant and you don't see any leaks.you see a white smoke (steam) coming from the exhaust pipe.you have a sweet smell coming from the exhaust pipe.you see air bubbles in the radiator coolant with the radiator cap off and engine running.

How can you tell if peugeot 106 p reg needs water in the radiator?

the engine will overheat!for a start ,and the dash water temperature light will come on!there will be steam coming from the radiator...

How can you tell if you got a bad head gasket?

White smoke (steam) coming out the exhaust that has a sweet smell to it.You are always adding coolant to the reservoir but never see a leak. Constant air bubbles coming out if the radiator coolant when engine is running and radiator cap is off. Engine overheats for no apparent reason. A compression test will determine which cylinder/head has the problem.

Why is there steam coming from your home ac?

do you have a heat pump? are you running unit in heat? if so and the steam is comming from outside unit, this is normal in the units defrost cycle

Why would steam be coming out from the radiator cap?

Radiator caps are pressure relief valves. They are rated at "pounds per square inch" and are designed to release some pressure from the radiator if it gets too high. If an engine overheats it can boil the coolant and this will cause the radiator cap to let out steam. Radiator caps DO lose their ability to regulate pressure and can release too soon. If the engine has not overheated, have the radiator cap tested and replaced as necessary.

Should steam radiator valves always be open?

Steam radiator valves should always be fully open, or fully closed. Steam enters the radiator from the boiler, and fills the radiator. The air vent shuts, having sensed moisture inside the radiator. The steam then cools, condenses to water, and drains from the radiator. If you leave a valve partially open, then the steam enters easily, because of the pressure. But, the water has a difficult time draining, so the radiator can collect it, and steals it from the furnace, which needs it for resupply.

What is the hissing from overheating car?

It's steam from boiling coolant (or water) coming out of the overflow hose connected to the top of the radiator just below the level of the cap.
