Is the key correct? Lock smith might be your best course.
i`m not sure if its exactly the same, but in my jeep there was just 4 bolts. two up under the dash, and two down where the column goes out through the firewall. disconnect whatever plugs are attached. get under the hood and there should be a bolt holding the steering shaft to the steering U-joint, take that out and the column should come right out
Well - it could be the turn signal unit in the steering column - if its a high mileage vehicle it may just be worn out. you have to remove the steering wheel and replace the unit - the part on a GMC is about $30 +/-. This may fix the problem.

1. Remove bolt (11mm) that attaches steering gearbox from lower steering column shaft 2. Slide lower steering column shaft until it detaches from steering box spline 3. Remove wheel 4. Remove steering box bolts attached to frame, inside of wheelwell and slightly lower it without removing any lines 5. Simple grab a hold of the lower steering column shaft a slide downwards until it detaches from upper shaft section (the lower steering column shaft is a press fit, two piece design) 6. Remove the water temperature sender and spark plugs from head. This will give you the additional clearance to lower the exhaust manifold into place from the top.

To change the key and tumbler in a 2001 GMC Jimmy, first, ensure the ignition is in the OFF position and disconnect the battery. Remove the steering column covers to access the ignition switch. Use a small tool to press the pin on the switch and turn the key to the "Run" position to release the tumbler. Once removed, install the new tumbler by aligning it and locking it in place before reassembling the steering column and reconnecting the battery.
take the steering wheel off, remove the safety plate and there's a small screw that is about the one 'o clock position on the column. take that out. also, get a manual...ah-ha!
I'm not sure if the fuse box on your 94 is in the same location as mine but on my 92 GMC Jimmy, the fuse box is under the dash to the left of the steering column. There is a plastic cover labeled "fuse" that must be removed to access fuses.
