It is believed to be but, no one knows for sure. Many scholars and facial experts have come to the conclusion that their faces are startlingly similar from the size of the nostrils to the distance between the eyes and so on and so forth. Laying a transparency of The Mona Lisa over a self potrait of da vinci has also proved that the images almost exactly match up. Some people believe that it's him in "drag" but being the brilliant man he was he probably wanted to see his own perfect mate because scientists have proven that we are very inclined to fall for or be attracted to the opposite sex when they have characteristics similar to our own
