A waveguide is a metal tube that is used to carry radio frequency energy from one place to another. It is commonly used in microwave telecommunications and radar.

A typical waveguide ifor 10,000 Megahertz is about 1" by 0.5 " rectangular cross-section. There are also circular and eliptical waveguides.

The size of the guide depends on the frequency in use. The lower the frequency, the bigger the waveguide. I have seen a waveguide that you could walk around in for 100 Mhz.

Once you get past about 1000Mhz, wire transmission lines become very inefficient, and waveguides are better.
