There are none unless it is somehow construed as fraud in your state. Provided you are open and honest and the former felon is on the lease, there are no penalities asside from being legally denied.
They certainly can. A landlord can refuse to rent to anyone, for no reason at all, as long as they aren't refusing for discriminatory reasons. The Federal Fair Housing Act forbids any from refusing a tenant based on race, ethnicity, marital status, sexual orientation, religion, creed, or family status.
By the way, I've known lots of ex-cons who were great guys. But then I worked in the construction industry.

There's a place in Roscommon
A convicted felon can find an apartment in Albuquerque New Mexico by doing an internet search for " Apartments in Albuquerque NM that allow felons " It will pull up the yellow pages and although it isn't 100% accurate, it is a start. It's too bad there are so many closed minded people in positions where they are able to make re-entry to society harder than it already is. good luck...

A convicted felon should not run an apartment complex. They should work jobs where they are not in control of a lot of people, especially when others safety is involved.

Yes
Likely as not from a private landlord. Apartment complexes are nefariously discriminatory against the formerly convicted.
I've been told you cannot rent an apartment and allow your felon family member live there.

It will depend entirely on the landlord or policy of the property. There are no state or federal laws that preclude a convicted felon from renting.
The renting of an apartment to a felon is strictly the choice of the landlord. Most professional apartment complexes do not rent out units to felons, especially those convicted of violent or drug offenses. You may want to try an individual landlord, someone who tends to be a little more understanding.
