The left chest ache and pain and/or numbness in the left arm are "classic" symptoms of angina and possible, or impending heart attack. If these symptoms are mild, one should call their doctor's office immediately and discuss. On the other hand, if the pain is severe, especially to the point of causing the inability to walk or stand, or profuse sweating when one normally should not be sweating, the the likelyhood of a heart attack is very great, an one should get to an emergency room as soon as possible! DO NOT ATTEMPT to DRIVE YOURSELF, but get a collegue, a neighbor, or an ambulance. The ambulance is the best option, as if immediate treatment is necessary, it can be done BEFORE arriving at the hospital. If the ache is severe, one option is a heart attack. The patient should get checked soon.

hand numbness is generally caused by lack of circulation. The chest pain could be a number of things, stress or anxiety are causes of chest pain that could feel almost like a heart attack. To play it safe check with your doctor , especially if your family has a risk of stroke of Heart disease.
