Earth has seasons because its axis is tilted. Earth's axis is always pointed in the same direction, so different parts of Earth get the Sun's direct rays throughout the year.

An earth year, is the time it takes for the earth to orbit the sun. It takes 365 1/4 days to go around the sun and arrive back where it started.

The spin of the earth on it's axis, is a day.

You will notice that the spin does not exactly match the time it takes for the earth to complete a years journey around the sun.

This is why we have to have an extra day, in a leap year, to catch up the quarter turns that we missed out in previous years.

The rotation of the earth and its axis. 1 day happens when the earth fully rotates once. 1 year is when the earth goes around the sun once. And the seasons are caused by the axis. When the earth is tilting towards the sun it's a warmer season like spring or summer. When it's tilted away its winter. 1 month happens when the moon rotates around the earth once.

The Earth orbits around the Sun due to gravity.

The Earth spins on its own axis because of its orbiting the Sun and because of the Law of Conservation of Angular Momentum.
