1. Check out the water pump 2. check Timing cover gaskets
Check to be sure it isn't the water pump.
SOME Chystler products & PROBABLY others (older vehicles) have water jsckets that run through the timing Cover,SOMETIMES if the cover get a hole in the cover INTERNALLY -(IT) will fill the Engine with oil & ruin the Engine. it could be a head gasket or water pump or a freeze plug leaking
HI, There are definitely a timing belt and a water pump on the engine. The timing belt is behind the cover that is on the front of the engine and when there you will also find the timing belt tensioner, they come as a set when you purchase them. The water pump is also at the front of the engine and sits at the left of the timing belt cover as you look at the engine, the pump is driven by the belt, you can't miss it. Happy repairing and good luck.Steve H.
Maybe but i think they have a timing chain. but i could be wrong. i could be pushrod. lust take the valve cover off the to of the wngine and look. and yes it does have a waterpump.
Pay about $600.00 or get the book. You have to remove crank shaft pulley, timing chain cover, very hard job. You do not need to remove the crankshaft pulley to replace the water pump on a 3.4L v6. If one wanted to remove the water pump housing/timing chain cover on this engine, then yes removal of the crankshaft pulley would be needed. Maybe you are confusing this 3.4L with the 2.4L where as the water pump is driven by the timing chain. This kind of repair at the mechanic wouldn't cost more than $100. It is a very easy job and the water pumps for these engines range from $10 - $30. It took me only 30 minutes to replace my water pump, and I'm only a hobbyist. I only paid $13.99 for my water pump. I drive a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero 3.4L 3400 v6
timing chain is inside the timing chain cover which is located between block and water pump. the water pump mounts to the front of timing case There is a cover that is behind the water pump... The timing chain is under that cover.
It can get in through the timing cover. That does car does not have a "timing belt" cover, but it has a "timing chain cover." There is a BIG difference, as a timing belt cover does not have coolant and oil running through it, but a timing chain cover does have both coolant and oil running through it.
the water pump is in the middle of the timing cover the crank pulley and timing cover has to come off
next to the timing chain you will find it in the cover on front of engine where the water pump is mounted they call it the timing chain cover you will have to remove this cover to get at it
Behind the timing cover, which is the large aluminium part that cover the front of the engine. The water pump, bolts to the center of the timing cover.
It is under the timing cover on the passenger side. It is driven by the timing belt.It is under the timing cover on the passenger side. It is driven by the timing belt.
The water pump is under the timing belt cover. The front most pulley the timing belt runs on is the water pump pulley. The water pump is located under the timing belt cover. The front most pulley the timing belt runs on is the water pump.
The timing belt cover should be right behind the water pump .. So remove the water pump then remove the timing belt cover then remove the timing belt then do all them steps backwards
yes
The water pump is at the bottom of the engine, bolted on the back side of the timing cover. The pump can be removed without remove the timing cover.
it is in the block behind the timing cover. the timing belt drives the water pump so you have to remove the timing components to install the water pump.
you have to take the timing belt cover off and timing belt to get to the water pump
