If your engine is fuel injected, do NOT press on the gas peddle while trying to start it. If you aren't doing that, then it's quite likely your electric fuel pump is beginning to fail and you'd better have it checked or replaced before it leaves you in the middle of no where.

Check to see if you are getting fuel.
Something is keeping power to the ignition coil. You need a wiring schematic and trace the wiring.
Ignition or ignition switch could be bad or the selanoid could have went out
If it has no spark, then could be ignition coil or ignition control module. If spark, then fuel related. Would need to check fuel pressure. If the fuel pump is in the tank then should hear it hum for a few seconds when turning key to on.
there could be loads of problems:-Fuel shortageC.D.I problem (Capacitive discharge ignition only)king lead damageair intake blockedchoke rongly adjustedring the AA or another motering organisation :P
may be a bad starter..... or if the engine is cranking with no start it could be the ignition wires
By turning the ignition key...
With a key, by turning on ignition
Check to see if you are getting fuel.
The ignition key.
Well, if your steering wheel was crooked it can cause the car to lock up, jiggle the steering wheel WHILE turning the key in the ignition.
this could be due to a bad ground Wire running in the ignition
plenty of things could be a starter, alternator, ignition switch, bad spark...
The fuel filter could cause a start and stall. Other causes could include the fuel pump, computer, various sensors, and ignition system.
Your ignition switch crapped on you
No, if it starts on its own without you turning the ignition switch then the ignition switch is defective.
Try an ignition switch.
