What could cause a car to not start until the third time of turning ignition?

If your engine is fuel injected, do NOT press on the gas peddle while trying to start it. If you aren't doing that, then it's quite likely your electric fuel pump is beginning to fail and you'd better have it checked or replaced before it leaves you in the middle of no where.
