According to biblical experts, Jesus prayed and cried for Himself as well as for his disciples at the Last Supper. Jesus knew that his life would be sacrificed for the sake of mankind and because of His love for God; Jesus wanted the disciples to remember Him and His final moment.
Putting it with plainness, the Last Supper was a time in which the Lord gives his disciples last minute instructions regarding their responsibilities after he was to leave them. He also told them that the reason for his holding the last meal was to be a symbolic gesture on their part to partake of bread and water or wine in remembrance of His body and His blood. It was a time when he instructed Judas to go and do what he had to do, that of betraying Christ to the evil priests.
Jesus promised to send his comfortor the holy spirit to his diciples. As always this promise came true and we read about it in Acts chapter 2.
