The earth's tectonic plates are moving on top of the mantle. Convection in the mantle is driving this movement. In result of this convection plates pull apart (at mid-ocean ridges) and collide together forming mountain ranges and volcanic arcs. And btw the answer before mine said that Hawaii was a subduction zone and its not... its a hot spot.

Though there are controversies and disagreements about this topic, many well-known scientists believe humans have caused and are causing global warming. Fears include:

  1. The polar ice caps are melting.
  2. Sea levels could rise.
  3. Air pollution from fossil fuels is increasing Earth's temperatures across the globe.
  4. Pollution is causing weather changes. We're having 100-year unusual floods; droughts; tornadoes, etc.
  5. Widespread droughts are occurring in numerous countries, including in the USA.
  6. Trees are drying, leading to widespread forest fires...which increases pollution...which changes Earth's temps, changes weather patterns, and leads to more droughts.

Other scientists say that the Earth goes through cyclic patterns of weather and temperature changes. They do not address why the ice caps are melting.

What evidence did scientists use to figure out that earth inner core is solid rock?

They do not have evidence. In fact most pf things are not even true. The only thing they say they did was put a stick on the ground and with a shockwave they knew what was inside the earth. My opinion is that the core is not what scientists say it is. Due to the fact that we know more about the moon than our own planet.

How much does the earth grow each day?

Well actually the earth is shrinking scientists say because the core is cooling. SCIENTIFIC THOUGHT!

How long will it be until the earth is uninhabitable?

You do not say what will harm the earth. The earth is a dynamic planet, if it did not have the processes which cause earthquakes and volcanoes it would be a dead planet. While earth stays dynamic, constantly active, it is the perfect place for us.

Which thickly clouded planet has radar mapping?

Venus. Here's a good trivia question: "Which planet is the most completely mapped?" Most people will say Earth, but Earth is 70% water and the oceans are charted, not mapped.

What makes earth a planet while pluto is not?

Pluto was re-classified as a dwarf planet in 2006 by the International Astronomical Union (IAU). A new definition for a planet was established, Pluto did not fit the new criteria, so was deemed a dwarf planet. Like Earth and the other planets, it is known to be spherical in shape and is in direct orbit the, but unlike the Earth and other planets, it does not `dominate` its orbit. That is to say that there are a high number of other bodies at the same orbital distance.

Is there going to be life on mars one day?

there is no answer to that yet, but since scientists say that the planet mars is the closest one to operate the way the earth does it is possible and maybe someday it will be.

What is planet earth called?

Which is the planet most observed by scientists or the NASA?

Without a doubt there are more scientists observing Earth than any other planet. However, "externally" I would say it would be Mars after The Moon.

How many planets give life?

Scientists are still bringing stuff back to earth from other planets to look at but, from the information we have now we say that only 1 planet has life. That planet is Earth.

Why do scientists say Pluto is usually the ninth planet?

No scientists say that. Scientists know that Pluto is a dwarf planet, and not one of the 8 major planets of our solar system.

When is earth going to end?

Most scientists say in about 13500. So I think that you have some time

Scientists now say that pluto is a piece of leftover what?

It is a dwarf planet....

Do scientists say that Pluto is a dwarf planet?

Yes.

Is the planet Earth going to recover from global warming?

It is impossible to say. Some scientists think it is already too late to stop 2 degrees Celsius of warming, which will cause colossal damage to us and the environment as we know it now.

Is the earth really what the scientists say it is?
