The earth's tectonic plates are moving on top of the mantle. Convection in the mantle is driving this movement. In result of this convection plates pull apart (at mid-ocean ridges) and collide together forming mountain ranges and volcanic arcs. And btw the answer before mine said that Hawaii was a subduction zone and its not... its a hot spot.

What evidence did scientists use to figure out that earth inner core is solid rock?

They do not have evidence. In fact most pf things are not even true. The only thing they say they did was put a stick on the ground and with a shockwave they knew what was inside the earth. My opinion is that the core is not what scientists say it is. Due to the fact that we know more about the moon than our own planet.

How long will it be until the earth is uninhabitable?

What makes earth a planet while pluto is not?

Pluto was re-classified as a dwarf planet in 2006 by the International Astronomical Union (IAU). A new definition for a planet was established, Pluto did not fit the new criteria, so was deemed a dwarf planet. Like Earth and the other planets, it is known to be spherical in shape and is in direct orbit the, but unlike the Earth and other planets, it does not `dominate` its orbit. That is to say that there are a high number of other bodies at the same orbital distance.
