This means that two needles were used to sew the top stitching. Thus the name, 'double top thread'.
It means that the sewing machine is the E1 model manufactured by Brother (the company). This would be helpful, for example, should you lose the manual and need to find it online, using the model.

No, you dont need a sewing machine to sew but it is better to have one as they are faster. if your not bothered about the speed of your work than you can always hand stitch. The stitches would probably be more accurate with a sewing machine but the only main difference is the speed.

The upper thread guide on a sewing machine is the markings on a sewing machine which show you how to thread the machine. It's usually indicated with arrows, dashes, and numbers, giving you step by step guides to thread the sewing machine properly.
"Sewing buttons" is a shortened way of saying "sewing buttons on", that is, stitching buttons onto a garment, pillow cover or other object. The buttons themselves have holes that allow sewing thread to pass through them and secure them to fabric.
Thread- as used to mean sewing thread, or thread cloth is woven from- was made in pre-historic times. The spinning of thread and weaving of cloth is older than writing- so there is no way of knowing who did it first. Sorry.
On forums bumping a thread refers to when someone goes in and comments on it bringing it to the top of the forum list due to a new comment. When people say why did you bump this thread they are usually referring to an old thread that had been brought up by someone, usually new to the forum. Hope this helped
Couching is an embroidery term. Basically, this means you lay the thread (or yarn) flat on the fabric in your desired design, and you fasten it in place with small stitches. The fastening stitches are couching stitches.
By 'single threaded' you really mean single start thread. So there is just one continuous thread running up the screw. Double start thread means that two threads start from the point and run up the screw entwined with each other. For the same thread spacing the double start will screw into the wood twice as quick but require more torque to drive it. Double or Twin start often used with power screwdrivers.

The term "boilfast" in relation to cotton thread refers to the thread's resistance to color fading or running when exposed to boiling water. This characteristic is particularly important for threads used in quilting and sewing projects that may undergo washing or high-temperature treatments. Boilfast threads maintain their color integrity and durability, ensuring that finished products retain their appearance over time.
Sewing.
Well if you put the thread in the right tensions that the pattern calls for, then your sewing machine will decide. Oh wait I see what you mean, there isn't really a machine to do that but what you could do is this, you could cut a certain amount of thread, measure it, and see how far it goes until it runs out. Then you measure how long the line you made and POW! you have a ratio. Then you would cross multiply with the line you want to make. Remember though, you have to do a different test for a different stitch, some stitches take more thread like the zigzag. I would make chart for all the different lengths you need for each stitch. Also remember, the thickness of the thread is also a variable.
