This question refers to the pump used to circulate coolant in water cooled engines. In passenger cars and trucks water pumps are typically mechanical (engine driven), but some have electric motors. The water pump is characteristic by having two coolant lines and a pulley that drives its impeller.
Fill the radiator up with water then drive the car for a few hours and check it and if the water is down then u have a leak that is one way to tell but that also tell u u have a leak period if not just look at it if it look like water is comeing from the sides of the pump it's leaking you need to fix it or u will run the van hot and blow a head gasket
It depends if it has pulleys on the front look for the water pump and replace. Now VW puts there belt systems on the rear of the motor it could be on the back of the motor.
Not sure what a fan pump is, please give us more info.
Drain the water from your cooling system. Remove the water pump return hose. Remove the water pump belt. Remove the water pump retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new water pump.
take off the water pump housing on the front of the engine, ancilleries like the air pump may need to be removed also, the thermostat is located directly behine the pump housing, wil pry out once the housing and water pump are off.
it looks like a water pump that a 1993 ford tempo has.
it dependes on your car but in most cars it looks like a gas pump
it would have a crack with water dripping or spraying out of it.
the water pump will be on the very front of the motor and have a big pulley bolted to it and a cooling fan bolted to the pulley
ok the best way is to look at the new water pump and find all the bolts.
If you look at the big fan on the front of the engine, The water pump is what the fan is bolted to.
a cilinder that has a pump and and long hose
Look at the belt on the engine, then look at the pulleys. The water pump is behind the pulley without any groves in the pulley.
You did not specify what engine the car has, the water pumps are different on each engine. You can look up the car on autozone.com, they usually have pictures of the products.
Examine the water pump more closely, specifically, get under the vehicle and look at where the leak is comming from. Usually when a water pump is leaking the coolant leaks from what are called "weep holes" in the bottom of the shaft. Coolant then runs down the casting of the pump then drips from the bottom of the engine. If you look closley you should be able to see where coolant has dried and left a colored track. If you see that, don't fight it, just replace the water pump.
Sounds like you need a water pump, The bearings in the water pump are making the noise not the pulley.
Overheating! And a big bill
