It means you have a fuel injection system not a carburetor.
Hey DKM==You need to tell what kind of car you have as there are so many different types of linkage. GoodluckJoe Try having the fuel pump checked. On a '93 Buick Century I used to have, the fuel pump failed, and the gas pedal immediately went to the floor. Casey
There might not be something wrong with the gas pedal, but with your knee.
Get out of the vehicle.
Something is wrong
carborator
it is useless to pump the gas in a fuel injected truck the pedal only controls the intake of air not the gas
Normally you don't touch the gas pedal , just turn your ignition key
Is it getting gas? Spark? Did you pump the gas pedal while you were starting/cranking the motor?
when you press your gas pedal hard and your car stalling on the high way
The gas pedal doesn't feel any different when the fuel pump goes out. If your fuel pump goes out, you'll know because your car won't start and stay on for you.
The sending unit is located on the fuel pump which is located inside the gas tank.
I just dealt with this, it is 3 things, your Throttle position sensor, your map sensor, and the fuel pump,
turn key halfway without starting the engine, press on the gas pedal slightly. this should work. keep tapping the gas slightly if it doesnt reset . do not press the gas pedal fully, you might flood the engine.
Sounds like your fuel pump is weak.Check the fuel pressure and if its not within specs then replace the pump.
If you have EFI, electronic Fuel Injection, pumping the pedal will do little good because there in no "pump" to pump fuel into the intake, as with a carburetor. Punctuation sometime helps. Using 'texting' style communicates information poorly.

if the car is completely out of gas then it take a little while for the fuel pump to get the fuel to the engine, but i got an alternative, when you turn the key on just let it sit for a second and don't press the gas pedal or try to start it, it should let the gas get to the engine.
