It means if it is losing coolant and you don't see a leak on the outside, it is leaking internally. This could be serious. Have a trusted mechanic check it out soon.
Not a good idea, you may and probably will crack and warp vital parts. Let it cool down on its own before even adding cold coolant into the system.
Cars do not burn coolant per say as cars burn gas. What makes your car use or go through a lot of coolant is if you have a leak someplace in the hoses, radiator system, radiator cap, freeze out plug, or too much straight water will make it run hotter. Is this car heating up? Are you adding straight water every time? It also could be a blown head gasket, but then it would be so hot the engine would stop and seize up. Can you smell it? If it smells like antifreeze but you don't see any tell tail signs of water leaking, then I would first check all water hoses for a pin hole. Look over your radiator real good and use a good bright flash light even in the daylight, you will be surprised what you can see. look for water stains (colored) green or white or even rust color. This would be a leak or a old one.
Drain existing coolant from the plug at the bottom or rear of the radiator Flush radiator with clean water until water runs clear Re-fill radiator slowly (to prevent an airlock) with a mixture of 50/50 water and antifreeze Run engine to normal operating temperature with heater on Re-check coolant level
Not without taking some steps. Your best bet will probably be to apply a layer of primer, then after it dries, the new paint.
a home addition is usually just adding more living space onto a house. like closing in a porch or adding another room. if your stupid and meant home edition as in windows xp home . it is the most basic form of an operating system without the bells and whistles. like limiting the network capabilities or not incorporating all the programs and functionality.
If only adding coolant to a leaking system it is safe because soon you will be forced to drain the coolant and fix a problem
Just because there is a leak doesn't mean it will overheat instantly, but if you do not keep adding coolant or fix the leak you will have engine problem
Find where it is leaking, and repair the leak, adding "Stop-leak" will possibly work, but may create more problems by doing so. If you can't find the leak, take it in for repair.
Don't mix Dex-Cool with other types of coolant. You will be asking for trouble and paying a premium to get it. See link.
Yes, any coolant leak is serious.
Adding coolant to a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am is very easy to do. The coolant can be directly added to the radiator. Make sure the engine is not hot before adding the coolant.
I have the same problem. I was told by a mechanic it is most likely a freeze plug, but it is so tight back there I can't see anything. I have been driving it for 6 months just adding antifreeze. But its getting worst. Has anyone got this fixed? Is it fixable without pulling the engine?
Coolant is added to a 1996 Hyundai Sonata by opening the coolant overflow tank and adding coolant until the full mark is reached. This allows the cooling system to pull in coolant as needed from the reserve tank.
In systems that do not have a radiator cap, the coolant is drained by the radiator drain plug. It is filled by adding coolant to the system through the overflow bottle.
Fix the cause, or keep adding fluid.
Losing a lot of coolant can be a serious problem if you don;t keep an eye on the coolant level. Low or no coolant will cause the engine to overheat and cause some serious damage. If the vehicle is not blowing white smoke (steam) out through the exhaust (a sign of blown head gasket or cracked cylinder head); if the radiator or radiator hose(s) are not leaking; if the water pump is not weeping (a sign that the water pump is bad); and all clamps are tight, the problem may be that the radiator pressure cap needs to be replaced. answer just adding to what was said above. if the coolant isn't leaking anywhere (check the groung under the truck in the morning) then the 1st place you should be looking is your oil, i.e. blown head gasket. pull the dipstick to note the color of the oil. if the gasket is blown and the coolant is leaking into the oil you will see a milky brown colored sludge on the dip, kind of like creamed coffee instead of the normal black/dark brown color. otherwise, leaking coolant is mainly a problem if you don't keep the system topped off. let it get too low and you will overheat the engine. then you will have real problems. either way you should find the leak and fix it.
To determine if your toilet is leaking, you can conduct a simple test by adding a few drops of food coloring into the tank and waiting for about 30 minutes without flushing. If the water in the bowl changes color, it indicates a leak. You may need to replace the flapper or seek professional help to fix the issue.
