Light and dark tones are used in art in order to create contrast and depth. This effect is known as chiaroscuro, and it's necessary for creating a realistic piece. I mean, think about it: without contrasting light or dark shades, there would be no shadows or highlights in the picture and it would look flat.
Chiaroscuro.

A "correct" exposure is one that gives you a photo with the tones and densities your artistic vision calls for. An "overexposed" picture is too light, and an underexposed one is too dark. The problem is, what are you trying to achieve with your picture? Maybe I'm taking a picture of a covered bridge where you can see the entrance. If I want the most detail in the outside of the bridge, the inside will plug up because there won't be enough exposure. If the inside is more important, the outside is going to get very light. And if the important thing to me is the river under the bridge, which is very light, then the bridge itself is going to look very dark.
When a picture is too dark it was underexposed, usually because it was too dark to take the picture. But, there can be other causes.
a contrast between light and dark.
A silhouette.
The picture will just be a flash in a dark background, like a sun at night. This effect also happens when you take a photo of a brick wall.
Dark
I know it is about light and dark and about how it is used in the picture. hope this helps !
Increase the brightness of the picture Decrease the contrast between dark and light areas in the picture
Usually takes up a lot of light powering your screen, does it not? Or else your picture would be VERY dark. So dark you wouldn't be able to see the show.
SURE. Just take a picture with the camera cap still on.

yes.. the picture had a light and dark contrast with the color red. ?
More like New Moon (empty hole in space) but with light around a dark circle
Most often it is dark, how dark depends on the artistic or writers rendering.
reflect light well-normally shinysmooth pale colour objects: mirror, glass, shiny metal, tin foil...these objects favour a good image due to the reflection of light is regular do not reflect light well-usually rough, matt , dark colured objects: tree trunk, car wheel, dark carboard, brick, stone, dark opaque plastic... These objects diffuse the picture or do not giva a picture at all because reflected light is irregular.
You can easily trace a dark color picture using Inkscape
