Studebaker was a company that lasted until the 70's. They manufactured cars and aircraft engines.
Their main focus was for the war effort, both WWI and WWII, however they did sell cars domestically as well. Everyone's focus was the war effort during WW I & II, so Studebaker was no different in that regard. What did make them different was that they had built large numbers of horse drawn wagons (starting in the 1850's) before entering the car business. They had their ups and downs, closing their main auto plant in South Bend IN in Dec. '63 (Merry Xmas!) and built their last cars in Hamilton, Ontario thru March '66. After that they survived as a holding company (they owned other businesses) until they were gobbled up in corporate mergers. They Studebaker Drivers Club is still active and has an excellent web site (I am a member) with lots more info.
