A vortex is a cyclonic, and swirl of air and dust.

Examples are hurricane ,tornades, and huge rotating storm and black holes

The term "vortex" means a rotating motion around a center, and can refer to whirlpools, spirals, helixes (like DNA) and in general any rotating entity in which the particles are drawn to or held by their relationship with a central point or zone. Vortex is used in three different contexts: 1) literal / physical, in which it describes the tendency of fluids (whirlpools) and air (hurricanes) to adopt a circular rotating motion in response to differences of force or angular momentum; 2) literary / metaphorical / theological -- ex. God speaks to Job out of a whirlwind in The Bible; 3) New Age use of "vortex" to describe psychic energy vortexes such as the Basye vortex in Virginia or the vortexes of Sedona, Arizona, which are thought to have an effect on the level of mind and energy on people who come near them. CAUSES: In a LITERAL context, vortices form in air and liquids because of differences in angle of movement and level of energy carried by adjoining regions of material particles. These differences in momentum tend to create a circular motion and thus rotation around a center, with tornadoes being a stunning example. But the cause of vortex phenomena is even deeper, operating on the nano-scale of matter (atomic levels) and below; it can be understood in phenomena such as "chirality" (or "handedness" of molecules), which may go back causally to gravity itself, the effect of mass on energy (i.e., spacetime itself curves in response to force exerted by mass and gravity is the result, per Einstein).
