4 valve sohc/dohc heads and hemi heads are both cross flow heads. It is because the intake valve is across from the exhaust veruses inline as with regular 2 valve wedge heads.

What does ground water flow mean?

Ground water is the water that occupies pore and void space below the surface of the earth. This water will flow if their is a suitable pathway (e.g. a porous and permeable rock forming an aquifer) from a region of high to low hydraulic head.

What happens when you put a cylinder head on backwards?

If the motor was NOT started, if the head bolts WERE NOT torqued, then you would just need to make sure the head gasket was not pressed and put the head on correctly (head gaskets are cheap replace it if there is even a question). If the head bolts were torqued (tightened at all) you must replace the head gasket. If the motor was started then it depends on how hot it got. Water passages normally do not line up so the engine overheats very quickly because there is no coolant flow, oil flow is also interrupted in most cases; this leads to a myriad of problems including cracked heads, scorched bearings, etc. In this situation it is best to remove both heads, check the block deck to ensure it is not warped, and have the heads tested (re-tested) to ensure they are not warped or cracked.

Does the blood from the head flow to the lungs first before flowing to the heart?

No. Blood from the head returns to the right side of the heart and is then pumped ino the lungs. The blood from the head returns to the heart and is then sent to the lungs. If it went to the lungs before returning to the heart, that would be wasteful becase then it would have gone through the lungs twice before going to where it was needed.

Does raising arms over head increase heart rate?

It opens up your lungs and allows a clean flow of air to be transported directly with out hassle.... don't know exactly bout heartrate...

When you are standing on your head the blood goes to your head so when you are standing up straight why doesn't the blood go to your feet?

Your heart pumps blood to all organs in your body. when you stand upright blood will be pumped to your feet with much less effort than standing on your head. When you are under normal gravitational force, even though gravity has an effect on blood flow, your blood circulation is totally controlled by your heart. So when you stand on your head blood will also be pumped to your feet.

What Effect does the gas flow on the piston have on the cross head meet?

The gas flow on the piston affects the cross head meet in several ways. Firstly it applies a force to the piston which then transmits the force to the cross head through the connecting rod. This force from the gas flow causes the cross head to move in a linear motion. The gas flow also affects the speed at which the cross head moves as it can be adjusted by controlling the pressure of the gas flow. Finally the gas flow also affects the thermal properties of the cross head as it helps to dissipate the heat generated by the piston. The effects of the gas flow on the cross head meet can be summarised as follows: Applies a force to the piston which is then transmitted to the cross head through the connecting rod. Affects the speed at which the cross head moves through adjusting the pressure of the gas flow. Affects the thermal properties of the cross head by helping to dissipate heat. These effects of the gas flow on the cross head meet are important considerations when designing a piston-driven system.

What is a cross flow cylinder head?

Simply put the intake manifold is on one side and the exhaust is on the other allowing the engine to have a more direct passage of gasses. All V 8 engines are automatically cross flow.

What is Gallons Per Minute of Water at ten Foot of Head?

The flow rate (gallons per minute) will depend on the cross-sectional area of the pipe.

How do you flow an engine head?

wash in bensin . . . . . Machine shops will have a machine that will flow air through the head so they can measure what the flow rate is.

What is a system curve?

a System curve is used in hydrolic anylyses to dtermine the duty point of a pump for a certain pipe line. The pump curve and system curve are plotted on the same graph and where the two cross each other is the duty point, the curve is a Head(meters) vs Flow(m3/hour). The system curve Head = static head + head loss due to friction in pipe + secondary head loss *This is calculated for a certain flow to determine the Head so it can be plotted on the curve
