What are the benefits of an iridium satellite phone?

Calling an iridium satellite phone depends upon which country one is calling from. If one is calling from the United States, he/she must dial the prefixes 011--8816 followed by the eight digit phone number. However, if one is calling from a country such as Germany or Mexico, he/she would instead use the prefixes 00-8816. Australia, for instance, uses the prefixes 0011-8816 to dial an iridium satellite phone.

After replacing the spark plugs on 94' Acura Legend with Denso Iridium Spark Plugs 0.4mm my car does not start on the first crank. Has anyone else used these plugs Any advice is appreciated.?

I'm just now learning about spark plugs, but I read that the ignition system may not recognize the voltage used in the iridium plugs. They require less voltage than platinum to start the engine. The iridiums have a smaller tip, requiring less voltage. The ignition system just doesn't recognize the voltage probably.

Why is iodine used in photography?

Almost any heavy metal can be used as a toner in photography, ... that being said, at one point or another iridium was used as a toner, producing a yellow image (much lighter than sepia) But since iridium is radioactive (only mildly- you would have to eat it or cover your skin with it to absorb more radiation than a day in the sun) there is no reason to use it except for the learning experience

What is the difference between a platinum spark plug and a iridium spark plug?

A platinum spark plug last longer than a copper spark plug however you're trading off engine performance for longevity of the spark plug. An iridium spark plug last longer than a copper plug and engine performance is at its best for the longest time. but its going to cost a few dollars more for these plugs. The champion or the a/c delco have been around for years and they will last for up to 20,000 miles. If you are mechanically inclined and you can change the plugs yourself the champions will be fine. Just change them when you need to, but if you have to go to a mechanic every time , then i recommend buying the expensive iridium from your local o Reilly auto store, or auto zone and then go and have them put on. It would be a little cheaper than purchasing them at the mechanic shop.
