This depends on the age and health of the child. Children start out much higher than adults and gradually reach the adult rate by around age 10.

Newborns (0 - 3 months old): 100 - 150 beats per minute

Infants (3 - 6 months old): 90 - 120 beats per minute

Infants (6 - 12 months old): 80 - 120 beats per minute

Children 1 - 10 years: 70 - 130 beats per minute

Children over 10 and adults (including seniors): 60 - 100 beats per minute

Well trained athletes: 40 - 60 beats per minute

3 to 4 years old: 80 to 120 beats per minute. As the child gets older the beats per minute is reduced. An adult at rest is usually 60 to 100 beat per minute.
