Remove two screws from the inside cover plate under the door handle. Carefully pull the panel off starting at the top, you can just pry the window control apart, you don't need to unscrew that part. I sprayed white grease (lubricant) all around the door latch inside there, and it unlatched easy. After I put it back together, the knob still doesn't rise as high as the other side. I think the linkage is binding, and the connecting rod is bent. At least if the door won't unlock with the button you can do it by hand. After posting, I went out and checked how its working, I had to unlock it by hand. I had noticed when it was apart that the lock knob went forward and up. It binds on the door panel. I put 3 in 1 oil around the knob, and it seems to work perfectly, so I poured oil around the other knobs as well.
A 100% acrylic paint holds up best to UV rays, however, if the door is used often there will be increased wear around the door knob or any other wear areas so it may have to be painted more often than using a more wear-resistant oil based finish.

Something attached to the door that resembles a bulb that can be grabbed. It is usually at around mid-height of an average person on the non-hinged side of the door used for pushing or pulling the door to open it. Often it contains a mechanism that extends a bolt into a recess of the frame in order to lock the door in place that can only be removed by twisting the knob. A secure knob requires a key to unlock the twist feature.
You will need a door knob boring tool to accomplish this task.

...well... you could describe it as a brass door knob or an old squeeky antique door knob with an elegant floral pattern. Clear transparent crystal , smooth metal door knob, renaissance style, ancient and rusty, moldy, black bronze, ... or glossy marble like porcelain door knob. That's all I can think up of.
