under the knob, there should be a locking nut on the shift rod. Loosen this and the knob should just unscrew
shifter
Saginaw 4 speed. It is an exact bolt in. Only change is you need a 4 speed shifter.
you have to remove transmission to take out and replace throwout bearing
You need to separate engine and transmission. Then torque converter just pulls of tranny.
sounds like selector in transmission is broken if you can move the shifter but the trans does not change you may have broken the shift cable.
how do i remove Chevy aveo 2006 shifter knob
Does it have an automatic or standard transmission? That is the first question..
Need to know if it is a truck or car and if it is a standard or automatic transmission.
Been a while, but don't you Take the boot off inside to get to the shifter. It either has a locking ring that holds the shifter in or 4 bolts holding the shifter in. In either case, remove it and the shifter pulls out.
Is this a standard transmission, or an automatic? automatic
It sounds like the transmission shifter linkage is disconnected.

Yes. You will also need to bring over the shifter, or purchase an aftermarket shifter for you application.
Yes you can remove a manual transmission and replace it with an automatic. You will need to buy an aftermarket shifter kit of find a shifter for your vehicle from a junk yard. You will also either have to remove the clutch pedal or replace the pedal assembly
the shifter is all in one. you have to replace the whole shifter. the nob is attached
Remove the driveshaft from the back of your Chevy transmission. Remove the transmission mount retaining bolts. Remove the retaining bolts from the Bell housing. The transmission can then slide backwards. Don't forget to unbolt the torque converter from the flex-plate and remove the torque converter with the transmission.
from my 1997 Chevy blazer s10 the whole thing has to be removed. If u want a really good durable shifter it will run you about 135.00 to 300.00 but if you get the shifter you can get the knob you want. The floor columns on the 90's blazer before 97 were screw off knobs and easy to remove but GM had to make it complicated and cost u more money!
