In the synoptic gospels, the Last Supper was on the day of the Jewish Passover feast, so we can say that Jesus and the disciples were partaking of the Passover feast.

In John's Gospel, the crucifixion was on the day of preparation for the Passover, so John does not describe a Last Supper, saying just that on evening before, when their supper was ended, Jesus washed the feet of the apostles.

If you are familiar with Bible stories, Passover was that night when angels of death passed over the town of Pharaoh to kill everyone. The only exemption from death was that if families had lamb's blood spread over their doorposts, the angels of death would not stop there.

The Last Supper was the last dinner Jesus had with His disciples before He died.

Was Jesus celebration of the Last Supper really his celebration of the Jewish Passover?

Yes. His Last Supper was at the time of year at which Passover is celebrated.

Which Gospels include the Last Supper?

The Last Supper was the Passover feast and appears in the Synoptic gospels, Matthew, Mark and Luke, because Passover occurred on the Thursday before the crucifixion. In John's Gospel, the Passover was on the Friday of the crucifixion, so there is no Last Supper recorded, instead Jesus washed the feet of the disciples.

In what ways is the Passover like the lords supper?

It isn't. Some people think that the last supper was a Passover seder, however, the timing was wrong for that to have happened.

What is the difference between the synoptic accounts of the Last Supper and that of John's Gospel?

A:In the synoptic gospels (Matthew, Mark and Luke), the Last Supper takes place on the evening of the day of the Passover - it is the Jewish Seder feast. John's Gospel moves the chronology (eg John 19:14) so that in his crucifixion, Jesus was the sacrificial lamb of the Passover, and therefore this gospel omits the ritual Last Supper. Apart from mentioning that Jesus and the disciples had their evening meal, John replaces the Last Supper by a ritual in which Jesus washes the feet of the disciples.

What 'Jewish' feast day did Jesus have the Last Supper on?

Jesus fulfilled the Passover as was given to Moses as an example of His coming. For some Christians, Passover is a memorial of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, "our Passover" which made possible the forgiveness of our sins.
