The difference is the way the way the needle groupings are put together. The stacked are overlapping layers generally put together tighter than weaved mags and the curved are put together with the outer needles slightly inset to provide the same amount of depth the needles go into the skin as you apply pressure thus causing less trauma to the skin! However a 5m2 needle is not spaced they are more for dark filling in. The needles are not gapped they are tight. So a5m2 needle also has 3 needles on top and 2 on bottom but you need a 3F tip. Standard is round, i don't know about curved, that's kind of scary, at least I have never heard of them, however there are tapered tips as well, which is probably what your talking about. Mag needles are stacked, if there is no stack they are also called flats. For the artist, tattooing is all about technique, and depending on your technique, you may choose to use a tapered needle, or a standard round.
