Horror. It should be noted that when a piece of literature is good or at least well known enthusiasts of particular genera will claim it as their own. Frankenstein is claimed by: Horror, science fiction, Gothic, Romanticism, philosophical and perhaps a few others I'm unaware of. There is no absolute 'Authority on Literary Classification' it is left up to the opinions of individuals and faculties to suggest such things.

The etymology of the word indicates what is at stake: 'ugly' is a Middle English (1150-1475) term meaning 'frightful' or 'repulsive', and is derived from the Old Norse term uggligr. Uggligr is in turn formed by uggr: fear or horror, and the suffix -ligr: like. An ugly body is thus a physical body that induces horror in us. This element of fear is evident in the ugly bodies par excellence: the monster, bonski lapso, monica Anderson = bobo ,the grotesque body, and the freaks 1.In English, it means ugly. (It's a tagalog word)
