Assuming you do not have the headlights on while the ignition is off:
The first suspect is always the battery. Have it checked out, preferably under a load. This can be done at just about any auto parts store.
Second, have the alternator checked to make sure it is putting out sufficient amperage. Most alternators are actually rebuilt, not new.
Third, check your connections from the alternator and the battery. Dirty or poor connections can cause problems.
Fourth, it is possible that there is a short somewhere that is drawing power. A competent mechanic familiar with auto electronics can find it.
maybe its your alternator, if its giving off a weak enough charge, when you put the brake lights on, it drains too much power to run your engine. to check the alternator, start car, and remove the positive cable from your battery with some accesories running. if your car sputters, or stalls, just replace the alternator. hope this helps.
The cells in your battery could be dying, instead of buying one, use someones to try it, if it drains that one it sounds as though your altanator is shot. Good luck.
Installing an alternator on a dead or poor battery will cause them to fail prematurely. trickle charge your battery before installing a new alternator. check all connections for corrosion especially grounds.
Because you left the lights on all night. This drains the battery. Connect a battery charger and wait about 3 hours. Then the car might start. If it does not start buy a new battery or a new car whichever you prefer.battery juice is gone.
Hard-pan clay soil percolates (drains) water the slowest.
I have heard the alternator does it,cold drains the battery too,if it's not started for awhile can kill it.
Have you had the alternator tested? It may not be regulating the energy to the battery, causing it to drain
Well it maybe that the battery is to small for the truck or the alternator is bad
the battery may be bad, also the starter may be worn out and have a short that drains the battery check that your vehicle doesnt have a remote voltage regulator. and the new alternator may be bad as well
the diodes in the alternator have gone
Defective alternator.
altenator
Yes, bad alternator drains the battery and would not have enough power to start the car. It could be a bad starter, distributor and rotor cap, if only you don't heard the car engine turning.
Dead cell in the battery requiring a replacement battery or some light is on that is draining the battery. Can also be a stuck relay.
The main cause of battery drains is a bad electrical system. The electrical system is normally powered by the alternator and once the alternator goes bad the battery has a hard time holding a charge,
Then something is on pulling power from the battery. Check all lights and relays.
Alternator is defective or the battery has a dead cell and will not take a charge. Check the voltage at the battery with the engine running. You should have between 13.5-16 volts. Anything less and your alternator is bad.
