altenator
Well it maybe that the battery is to small for the truck or the alternator is bad
the diodes in the alternator have gone
Yes, the alternator provides electrical energy to keep the battery charged. If the alternator isn't functioning, the battery will discharge and there will be insufficient electrical energy to operate the ignition and other electrical components. Understand that a battery is only an electrical STORAGE device. Electrical energy is produced by the alternator. The function of the battery is to provide electrical energy for NEXT time you want to start the engine. Once the engine is started, the alternator must take care of all electrical requirements of the vehicle as well as for providing enough additional electrical energy to replace electrical energy to the battery that was last used when the engine was started.
Your alternator is not recharging the battery and is defective.
If it is running on the battery only then that means the alternator is not charging the battery.
you have a dead short somewhere in electrical system. have the alternator checked even tho it is new.these have been known to b bad from the getgo. also have the starter motor taken out and checked by a good automotive electrician.these can have a short but still work check the voltage regulator.these are either built into alternator or are connected remotely the alternator and battery complete the electrical circuit, so if one is bad it will stop the vehicle when battery charge is gone Rocky_B - See my entry here for more things you might want to check: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_could_be_wrong_if_the_battery_light_stays_on_and_the_battery_still_runs_down_on_a_1996_windstar_after_installing_a_new_battery_and_alternator
bad alternator, bad voltage regulator, bad battery, bad connections.
Either battery or alternator going bad, Advance Auto, or Auto Zone can check this for you! This happened to my truck, but my memory is not to good! More likely the alternator. yeah this happened to me on the freeway, i figured the computer needed to be reset but when the brake and battery lights go on, the alternator is going bad and you might have a half day of driving before it drains your battery
As long as the alternator works and your charging system is correct, the new battery will start your truck and keep it running.
The answer is no . The battery starts you vehicle , the alternator charges the battery so if your alternator is bad your battery is not receiving a charge which will cause a "no start" condition.
bad alternator ? its not charging the battery
Start the truck then disconnect the battery if it's still running the alternator is good
