You should not adhere tile on top of tile. It is much better to rip it up and install on a secure surface and make sure it is smooth level. If you find yourself in a situation where you can not/should not remove the tile (e.g. if there is asbestos tile underneath or if there is a radiant heat systems under and you don't want to risk breaking/puncturing it), then the alternative is to pour 1/2" (or more) of self leveling cement and then install on top of that.

How do you Replace tailgate cable 2000 Chevrolet S-10?
Very simple. I just did this today on my '99. Go to a Chevy dealer and get a recall kit: Part #15939908. It comes with two new cables and two new connecting bolts. (These are for a 2000 Chevy but it should fit yours okay.) Use a 3/8" drill bit and drill out the existing rivets. Then use the 3/8" bit to enlarge the holes in the brackets where the rivets had been. Now remove the screws holding the mounting brackets into the tailgate. With the brackets loose, you can install the new cables with the new connecting bolts using wrenches. Then just put everything back together and you're set. It's actually a nice install and if the cables break again, you can easily replace them with wrenches... no stupid rivets! Good luck.

Not sure specifically for a dakota, but normally theres a retaining clip on that holds the crank onto a little stud. Push back the door panel as far as you can and look behind the handle. There should be a little clip that will have to go up/down/left/right to release the handle. Then it should slide right off.

I have the same type of problem. The spring on my handle is rusted and the handle gets stuck in the up position. Take off the inside panel for the tailgate, or at least the right side. You should see two nuts through an opening (the wireing is around this area). I havn't done anything yet, but these should release (at least part of) the handle.

Most often the cause is two broken clips inside the tail gate mechanism. By pushing upwards you can remove the plastic bezel around the tailgate handle; its just snapped into place. You should now be able to see the mechanism under the handle. There are two metal bars coming in from the sides of the tailgate. These operate the latches on either side of the tailgate. They are attached to the central tailgate handle mechanism by plastic clips. One is pink and one is green; colored to indicate whether they go on the right or the left. You can get these clips from a dealership for about 5 bucks a piece. Hope that helps.

Could simply just be dirty. Put the gate down, and unscrew the back of the handle. Once you unscrew the tail gates handle. then unscrew the ends where the latchs are. Then you should be able to pull the latchs out and clean them. Just clean the handle and latchs and it should be fine. I know mine needed it.

There are 3 or 4 bolts on the inside of the tail gate. Remove them and the handle should come out. It should be atached to 2 rods that go to the locking mechanism. More than likely one of the small plastic keepers has broken and the rod has come off from the handle. To open the tailgate, simply pull inward on these rods. The small plastic keepers and the plastic bezel around the handle (which is subject to breaking when removed) can be found at any parts house. The clips are usually $2 for an assortment pack and the bezel (which is subject to breaking when removed) is about $15.
