Earhart made TWO Transatlantic flights . the first one, where she was essentially a forward observer, not an active pilot, but nonetheless an (Aviatrix) occured in June of l928, this involved a Fokker Tri-motor on Floats called the (Friendship) it should be noted she did not own this craft. The second one, a solo flight in l932 and the first feminine non-stop Atlantic flight- there had been several multi-hopped, involved a Lockheed Vega in Red and gold trim- oddly Russian orthodox colors! this plane ( it was a production model) survives in the National air and space museum at the Smithsonian. This plane was code-named the Little red Bus or Red Bus for short. The only planes she actually owned were this one and the ill-fated Electra. actually there were two electras as one was a working spare- and was severely damaged in a crash taking off from Hawaii, like racing teams, they have backup vehicles. so it goes.
To fly around the world
Consult the Amelia Earhart Birthplace museum. They have a replica of this home-made amusement which probably could have been patented as a portative Carnival attraction. She would have been in her teens. Sister Muriel (pidge) collaborated on this project. Againthere is a replica at the museum. A neat improvised amusement device that could have been patented and maybe sold to, say A Major carnival chain.

Amelia Earhart
Amelia earhart was a fantastic flyer that struck the hearts of woman around the world. She attemted to fly around the world but she failed and she disapeared. She is my life...
From all accounts and links, I have not found a name for her airplane. Amelia Earhart bought a Lockheed 10E Electra forher attempt to fly around the world in 1937. Her aircraft was lost in the Pacific Ocean and some people suspect the Japanese military did not want her spying on their business just before the start of WW2.I know what you are thinking. I've seen the commercial where they have a crashed airplane with "Amelia Earhart" painted on the nose. Here is a link to a photo of her plane and there is no name painted on the nose.UPDATE (09.16.2008)Although there was no special name or nickname painted somewhere on the plane itself, Amelia Earhart herself frequently called it the "Flying Laboratory"
