We usually give something called NSAIDS, or Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory drugs, such as Aleve (Naprosyn), Motrin (Ibuprofin), Indocin (Indomethcin... my favorite), etc... For a full list, Google "NSAIDS" (without the quote marks)...

What age group gets arthritis?

I dont know how old this question is, but I decided to answer it anyways. Arthritis can affect a person at any age, usually it is older people who have this problem, but you can also be born with it. I have a friend who is 21, and she's had it her whole life, being born with it caused her to have bent joints, and very small bones. She also has smaller features, because of this. She takes many meds, and has appointments every year to check her well-being. :)

What medicine is good for arthritis?

there are several medications for rheumatoid arthritis which include1.NSAIDs2.hydroxychloroquine3.low dose methotrexate4.gold compound5.tnf-a inhibitors etc.it depends upon the severity of the disease progression & condition, the physician will decide which medication will best suit you.now-a-days tnf-a inhibitors are used by the RA patients and having a dramatical effect towards the disease healing.

Can an injury cause arthritis?

There are many different forms of arthritis and the one thing they have in common is that they can all be associated with serious physical damage to not only the joints but many other organs of the body ranging from the skint to the kidneys to the heart. Arthritis can cause crippling and debilitating physical harm and needs early treatment to slow its harmful effect.

What should you do if your arthritis is so bad that you cannot put weight on your wrist?

AnswerI can certainly sympathize with you because my mother had the problem and my aunt has it. I suggest you go to a specialty drug store and get a Tensor bandage or something else they may recommend to help keep your wrist from shifting (sort of like something one would use for carpal tunnel) and you see this on especially cashiers in stores or anyone that is on the computer for a long period of time. This is usually caused by repetitive action.I would also like to point out that you can see a specialist (if you haven't already) for arthritis and there are several medications to get you through the rough spots, but frequent blood testing should come along with it because these meds can be hard on the liver. However, short-term (such as colder weather if that is what bothers you) should be just fine and the specialist will wean you off the medication he has you on.When grocery shopping most large grocery chains will ask if you need help. If they don't ask! Get one of those smaller carts (on two wheels) so once home you can push or pull the cart into the house. Try to keep the strain off your wrists and if you do a lot of repetitive work such as being on the computer, knitting or needlework then give your wrists a rest. It's very important that you do keep your wrists mostly active (even though painful) because it will be a lot worse for you if you don't use them to some degree. The Tensor bandage enables you to do this without moving the wrist too dramatically (turning from side-to-side.)If your arthritis is so bad that you are unable to carry on normal activity's or even before that, it is important that you check in with a rheumatologist and find out exactly what you are suffering from. Rheumatoid arthritis for example needs to be brought under control as it can totally destroy the joints it effects leaving you no choice but to replace them. this and a lot of pain can usually be avoided with the correct medication.

What is a good overthecounter pain relief medicine for arthritis?

It depends on the amount and degree of joint involvement . People respond differently to the myriad of meds on today's market. The best medicine is hope and a firm will to keep going even if you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. ---------------------------------------------------- Discuss this with your doctor and together you will come up with the correct medication to help you.

Can you take allegra and contac cold medicine together?

It depends on the specific ingredients in each one. Some cold medicine ingredients overlap with allergy med ingredients in these multi packs. Allergy meds are to keep your allergic reaction down, ie antihistimines. Sometimes allergy meds include ingredients that help with allergy symptoms, like decongestants. Some meds help the nose more to keep it from running and others help thin the mucus (like guaifenesin). Look at the ingredients in each pack and compare. Do you need help with specific symptoms? Then you're better off buying specific meds (not the multi meds in one pill). Best advice: Go ask your pharmacist. They also have more of these types meds behind the counter at the pharmacy that can help you that are more powerful or have ingredients that have to have controlled access. The pharmacist can help with a lot of these type questions, even if you don't have a prescription they will help you will over the counter meds.

How does arthritis affect the digestive system?

Stomach issues are usually caused by the NSAIDs (ie aspirin, naprosyn, etc.) prescribed for pain. Your doctor may change your medications or prescribe a pill specifically to help relieve the problem (ie prilosec, zantac). However, you can try taking the meds with a meal to help alleviate the problem. Also, drinking hot tea can help settle your stomach.
