With the help of my brother, I rebuilt a Slant 6 in a 1983 Dodge D150 with an Overdrive4 transmission. We hooked up an oil pressure gauge to the external oil pump and I saw over 50PSI at idle. This engine is at it's last build as it's bored over .060 and the cylinder head milled at .090 to raise its performance, all the while keeping reliability. I think now the engine's displacement is 232 from the original 225. Use a portable pressure gauge with the right fittings to do this test if you don't have a gauge on the dash.
Hope this helps.
It holds 5 qts. with a new filter.
Yes
a slant 6 is dodges in line 6 that when mounted in vehicle it was slanted head first toward passanger side of vehicle. it was a workhorse engine of 225 ci.i owned an 1983 dodge work truck that i put 387, 000 miles on befor i sold it.
1-5-3-6-2-4
yes it should work as long as they are both 225 slant 6's.
under the oil filter pointed down or towards the block
The oil used in a slant six cylinder is typically 10w-30.
Use SAE 10w30.
the oil pressure swith should be down never the oil filter it screws into the neck that the oil filter is attached in a 4.3lt v-6 that is
If your replacing a slant 6 with another slant 6 it will bolt right in.
Ruptured Fuel pump diaphram?
It holds 5 qts. with a new filter.
For maybe 5 Minutes. Then, you'll blow it up.
I BELIEVE that is 4.5 quarts with engine oil filter change on the 1966 Ford Mustang STRAIGHT 6 cylinder engine
BAD cam bearings. Could just be LOW oil pressure. Oil pressure specs. At 1000 RPMs oil pressure should read at least 6 PSI. At 2000 RPMS it should read at least 18 PSI are better. If not REPLACE oil pump and pick-up screen.
The firing order should be 1-5-3-6-2-4.
a slant 6 does in fact have a timing chain but it rarely ever wear out, break, or stretch, because of the durability of a slant 6.
