He wrote several books about Amelia (Last Flight) (Soaring wings), and lived out the rest of his life as the publisher he was.l He remarried some years later, AE being declared legally dead in l943, in mid-war. He was at least ten years older than his aviatrix wife and he somewhat resembled Robert Ripley for looks, tall, distinguished eyeglass wearing. Well he was a man of the pen.
There is some evidence(Letters from amelia) by Jean Backus, that she had a bout with Pleurisy in the ealry twenties. Obviysly peole do not brag about illnesses or potential handicapping situations. There is a lot of interesting material in this book that is not very well documented, lilke an accident-rescue sequence that involved Earhart and another aviatrix, possibly Louise Thaden- I have fialed to substantiate that one, which cetainly would have made the papers.

Amelia Earhart left college to work as a nurse's aide during World War I. She then attended Columbia University, but left to work as a social worker. She eventually became a pilot and pursued her passion for aviation instead of completing her college education.
