Double check the ground, and make sure the cap on the Optispark unit isn't what's arcing instead.
Possibly the spark plug wires are bad, to much resistance.
A flat camshaft could cause this if you have already ruled out wrong wire order and any other ignition problems. Each factor would have to be checked in order to determine the real problem.
There is a sort somewhere in the starting system

it is a fuse that protects the ignition relay from too much current. a bad fuse would cause a no start, and if you pull the fuse, its center core will be burnt out if it is bad.
Check to see if you are getting fuel.
No spark would usually be the ignition coil.
check g/box inhibitor switch could be out of adjustment

When you bought it did they tell you it would have to be programmed by the dealership?

Ignition is required for an engine to work. Failure of ignition would prevent the engine working.
You may have a short in the ignition system.

The radio time would stay on if you had the keys in the ignition but the ignition was only turned halfway.
