Oliver Fisher Winchester acquired Smith & Wesson company which at that time was better known as the Volcanic Repeating Arms Company in June 1850. He then relocated the company to New Haven, Connecticut. He renamed the company New Haven Arms. He had a engineer named Benjamin Henry who redesigned the rifles they were producing. Benjamin Henry and Oliver Winchester came up with the "Henry Repeating Rifle" that was a .44 caliber rimfire(meaning the cartridge was struck on the rim by the firing pin). The patent was put in Henry's name on October 16, 1860. The company was then renamed the Winchester Repeating Arms Company. The first rifles made by the company with this name were the model 1866.

Winchester rifles of that age and caliber start out around $1500. It could be worth up to $1000 more depending on overall condition.
Most rifles made by Winchester dropped the WCF(Winchester Center Fire) designation at the start of World War II.In this case 1941-1942.
The first Winchester model 1300 shotgun(model 1300 featherweight) was made in the year 1978.
I have always considered the change to have taken place with rifles produced after world war II.
Lets start out with the fact that the Winchester model 100 semi-auto rifle was chambered in 243 Winchester,284 Winchester, and 308 Winchester only!Your serial number indicates that your rifle was made in the year 1965.These rifles range in price from 250-400 dollars, depending on overall condition and a good bore.
Lets start with the year. With the serial number that you provided, your Winchester model 1894 rifle was made in the year 1954.With that said it would be hard to give you a accurate appraisal without a detailed description of the rifles overall condition and what condition of the bore of your rifle.Generally these rifles sell for between 350-550 dollars.
No, they started adding the prefix 6 or 1 to the model numbers of the guns that were made or had parts that were made overseas. this didn't start until the 90's
