The Nazi's as a political force ended with the surrender of Germany at the end of WW2. The Nazi movement is still alive and some say (debatably) strong within several extreme right wing groups.

Because it killed people in the process which even though at that time many Americans didn't like the Jews they still couldn't let Germany kill them all. Its like whats going on right now in the world with other countries fighting for freedom and dying the whole reason its so big is because there are people dying in the process...

Prior to commiting suicide in the Berlin bunker he had instructed Albert Speer to burn Germany to the ground leaving nothing to the Allies in their victory [by Hitler's reasoning all the good Germans had already died fighting for the cause, those Germans left weren't worthy of him or Germany] and in his last Will and Testament named Admiral Donitz [of UBoat fame] as next Fuhrer of the Third Reich.

Albert Speer refused to carry out Hitler's order, Donitz did by succession become the second and last leader of the Third Reich.. surrending it to the Allies as described above.

"What happened to all of the Nazis?"

Many of the die hard NAZIs committed suicide [the Goebbels poisoned their daughters, Goebbel's wife took cyanide, Goebbels shot himself]; some ran away to South America and places unknown; some stood trial like Goring and Jodl to be found guilty and condemned to death by hanging ]goring cheated the gallows by taking cyanide], Hess got like in prison at Spandau, Speer and Donitz got 20yr terms, served less.

They all basically faded away back into the woodwork, and Germany outlawed the display of the swastika, Hitler salute, denial of the Holocaust, etc.
