You've done a terrific job of shutting down your motor when you saw it was overheating to prevent further damage. Did you burp the coolant system when you filled it with coolant? If not the instructions are in your repair manual. You should also check your oil to see if there's coolant in it. If so the oil will appear tan and milky; if this is the case you have blown a head gasket. If neither of these things is the case I would check the following things in this order; the thermostat, the fan motor, the fan relay, the fan temperature switch, the water pump and lastly a clogged radiator or coolant line.
No, if anything it would get cooler from having too much. -You have a different problem, possibly a coolant leak.
The normal direction of circulation in the coolant system would push the coolant out the thermostat opening.
The Mini Cooper uses a blue dyed ethyl glycol coolant. The original green engine coolant will blend well with the BMW/ Mini coolant.
If it's anything like the '05 V-6, it's located towards the front of the (driver's side) engine block. A diagram from Autozone repair guide can be found here: http://www.autozone.com/autozone/repairinfo/repairguide/repairGuideContent.jsp?pageId=0996b43f80382f1e. Gonna replace mine, along with thermostat this week. BTW, is your check engine light on, and giving you a code saying that either the coolant is low, or thermostat/coolant temperature coolant sensor is bad? Best of luck.
Rear defrost has nothing to do with the engine. Possible causes, low in coolant, faulty thermostat, air lock in the coolant system, faulty temp. switch, ( manual or electronic?) inside car. Did you replace anything? Add any antifreeze? Change any hoses?
coolant sensor replacement need it
Check your coolant level...
Either low coolant level or the engine is overheating.
flashing blue means you have an electrical issues with the coolant sensor. you probably have a bad sensor that needs replacing in the coolant bottle hope that helps Phil
its a dance party
I Dnt know
Switch the ignition off and start the car again. The light will then stop flashing.
just like was said, coolant low or bad switch,or needs air bled from the line
Mine went nut. After I filled up the coolant reservoir, the D light stopped flashing. Good luck!!
if the coolant light is flashing red it means it's overheating (DO NOT DRIVE), check coolent level "if level is fine", it may be your thermastat. if coolent level is low check your coolent hoses. (allow engine to cool before checking)
Check the sensor located at the bottom of the reservoir.
Could it be that you are just low on coolant?
