It is toward the rear of the driver's side valve cover. If you notice that the intake plenum kind of hangs over the valve cover a lttle bit. the PCV is at the end of a short vacuum line, under the edge of that overhang, toward the rear.
According to the ( 2001 ) Ford Explorer Sport Trac owner Guide : ( the wheelbase is 125.9 inches )
The brake shoes may be out of adjustment causing the shoes to contact the drums prematurely. You could have a proportiong valve issue, but try adjusting the rear brakes first.
This part runs along the top backside of the engine from one side to the other. It is a long black plastic piece that you can only get from the dealerships. Do not waste your time buying the PCV valve at an auto warehouse because it is NOT what you need. I cannot remember the cost but it was a bit pricey for what you get. If it is clogged though you will notice a huge difference... I know I did. $30 +/-
It Means that cylinder number three is experiencing a misfire, this could be a bad spark plus, a disconnected wire at the plug or coil, a bad coil, a bad fuel injector, disconnected wire at the fuel injector, the list goes on and on, you'll need to do some troubleshooting to rule out possibilities.
This sounds like your wheel hubs need replaced. These are where the sensors for ABS and Traction control are located. I'm very surprised a dealer would not be able to find this. It is possible another sensor is bad, but this is the same problem I had with my 2001 Alero. If you have service engine light on, trac. off light and the ABS light on the same time, you may be able to get it fixed my reprogramming the power control module (with updated software calibration). Mine was fixed for free at a dealer under a recall campaign when GM called me yesterday.
