it is located on passengers side just below the headlight. to remove headlight assembly. just pull up on the 2 plastic slide pins on top of headlight assembly. good-day !
The crank sensor on a 2001 Malibu is located on the bottom of the engine near the crank shaft. It monitors the rotation and speed of the crank shaft.
Have somebody hold the hood release cable in at the handle while you close the hood. If it works, your cable may be over stretched.

If its the same as my 2001 malibu, you turn the key to the on position leave it on for about 10 mins. When the security light goes off turn the key to off. You should then be able to start the engine normally. Its the worst system ever devised.
too much weight from too many keys cause the cylinder to wear out. try attaching key to breakaway keychain to reduce weight.

What do you mean? When does this happen. I have a Malibu '02 and the horn will blow if one of my electric lock buttons are stuck up or down. This will cause it to honk if I put the car in park.
