femoral arterty
The abdominal aorta splits caudally into the external iliac arteries, and a short section of the aorta continues on and then divides to form the two internal iliac arteries and the caudal artery. There is no common iliac artery in cats as there is in humans. In cats, the caudal artery takes blood to the tail
Hector the Bulldog , from Looney Tunes , would often frighten Sylvester into clutching the ceiling .
Well, actually, you can't!
Oh I love drawing cats! I was truly inspired by the Warrior Cats book series!
Swat cats was the name of the series. An excellent show if I do say so myself :)
In male cats, the general artery is called the internal spermatic artery. It is called the ovarian artery in female cats.
Normal pulse in cats: 130 - 240 beats per minute. How to check your cat's pulse/heartbeat: To check the pulse, feel for the femoral artery which is located close to the surface on the inside of the thigh at the groin. I found it difficult to find the femoral artery to check the pulse, another method which I found much easier was to feel the heartbeat. To do this press against the rib cage over the heart. With the cat standing, feel the pulse just behind the elbow. See image below. Either way, count the number of beats in 15 seconds & then multiply by 4 to get the total number per minute.
If they are my cats.. all the time, and far too often around me.
Mice and birds do often get eaten by cats.
The pulse is measured by placing the first two fingers over a superficial artery; in dogs and cats you can access the external iliac artery pretty easy while in cattle and horses the facial artery is the preferred site. The respiratory rate can be measured by observing the caudal edge of the ribs contracting medially. Both measurements are counted over a period of time, usually 10 or 15 seconds, then calculated to determine the number per minute. Another option is to simply measure both while ausculting the lungs through a stethoscope - you can hear both lung and heart sounds while doing this. This has the advantage of taking less time, as you can be listening for abnormal sounds (such as a heart murmur) while you are counting the number of beats for 15 seconds.
Women are more often bitten by cats
Pulse rate is important in examining any circulating disturbance. The average pulse rate in small domestic animals like cats ranges from 90 -120 per minute and in big animals like horse it ranges from 28- 40 per minute.

The function of the gracilis in cats is to adduct the thigh. To adduct is to draw the limb toward the body. In cats he gracilis runs from groin area to inner knee, just posterior and parallel to the femoral artery and vein.
Male cats are often called tom-cats or toms. :)
No, cats with an orange fur are often male. But this is not always the case.
