Who was a member of the Democrat party?

Beginning in the 19th Century America, there were several politicians who were members of the Democrat Party that stand out. ( please note that the proper name of the party this answer refers to is the Democrat Party not the Democratic party.

By 1839, the Democrat Party was well established and well renowned US Presidents were members such as:

A. Andrew Jackson 1829 to 1837;

B. Martin Van Buren 1837 to 1841;

C. James Knox Polk 1845 to 1849;

D. Franklin Pierce 1853 to 1857;

E. James Buchanan 1857 to 1861;

F. Andrew Johnson had been a Democrat and switched parties to become Abraham Lincoln's Vice President. Johnson became President in 1865 because of the assassination of President Lincoln. Johnson left office in 1869;

G. Grover Cleveland. Cleveland served two separate terms, first in 1885 to 1889, then 1893 to 1897;

H. Woodrow Wilson 1913 to 1921;

I. Franklin Delano Roosevelt 1933 to 1945;

J. Harry S. Truman He served out the term of FDR upon FDR's death in 1945. Truman was elected on his own in 1949 to 1953;

K. John F. Kennedy 1961 to 1963 ( he was assassinated in November 1963 and the remainder of his term was filled by Lyndon B. Johnson.

L. Lyndon B. Johnson was elected in 1964 to 1969;

M. James Carter 1977 to 1971;

N. William Clinton 1991 to 1999;

O. Barak Obama 2008 to present.

American history in the 19th century had 2 stand out Democrat politicians that were never Presidents. They were Senator Stephen A. Douglas who ran against Abraham Lincoln and was part of the Missouri 1850 Compromise and soon after the Kansas Nebraska Act. Also I would like to mention the former head of the Army of the Potomac, George B. McClellan, who ran against Lincoln in the 1864 Presidential election.

Naturally the list of other famous Democrats can be listed, however I chose to focus on Democrats that were US Presidents.
