The maps and globes are important to geographers just as the Periodic Table to chemists. When you learn Geography you will learn it for the specific places of the world (by specfic places I mean mianly countries). Knowing where the place helps you imagine and explain and reason out why that place has that geography. example: Russia; When you see Russia in a globe you notice that it is found North of Asia. This tells you for example that Russia has a cold weather.
