Maundy coins are a set of four silver coins (1, 2, 3 and 4 pence) totalling 10 Pence, given to the deserving poor, usually by the King or Queen, on Maundy Thursday each year. Maundy coins should not be confused with any other coin of the same denomination. The silver content of these coins has varied over the years, but is now back to 0.925 fineness.
