Why won't 2001 clk 430 Mercedes convertible roll bar go down?

the reason the roll bar won't go down is ,either roll bar was activated by an impact or it was activated if vehicle was jacked up with keys in the ignition. You will have to do a manual reset on the roll bar to reset. this is done with the tool provided in your tool kit.

What causes clutch pedal to have to be completely depressed before vehicle to go into gear and the slightest release to start forward movement?

It sounds like the linkage is out of adjustment, if it is a manual linkage. If it is a hydraulic actuator, you may be low on fluid. The actuator inside the transmission could also be worn. The first thing I would check is external linkages, and stuff. Have someone press the clutch pedal, while you are under the vehicle. Look to see the moving parts. You may get lucky, and be able to adjust it yourself. If the linkages are good, you may need to take it to a transmission shop for a check up. Good luck, Steve.
