Why does my crown molding painted in Sherwin Williams Dover White semi gloss has a blackish hue how to eliminate such a dark hue should I use a different sheen or different paint type?

The blackish hue could be due to a reflection or shadow in the surface, or could be the colors around it are causing it to impart a black hue that was not noticed when the color was isolated away from these colors. If this it the case, choose a color in the context of the room that you are going to use it. Check for shadows and reflections first by bringing more lighting into the room. A combination of color and lighting could also be the culprit. A change of color or sheen may be needed to remedy the problem.
