Actually, they do make gauges from tagua nuts from a simple plug to large and ornate.
I picked up my (large and ornate) pair at a music festival.
I've found this to be the best (and cheapest) way to buy a new pair of gauges.
It's very difficult to find any for sale online, I think this is because they don't make too many of them-the demand just isn't there, most people would prefer to have bone in their ear.

You can make plugs out of any material that you like; stone, wood, acrylic, metal, glass…the list goes on and on. If you want some made out of tagua, then take them to a mod artist that specializes in making plugs, or make them yourself. Plugs are easy to make, the only important thing to note is to make doubly sure that they are smooth and have no burs, and that you properly seal them with laquer or a clearcoat of some kind. If you wear wood that has not been sealed, the skin of your ears will start to grip into the pores of the material…and may get to a point to where you can't take them out because your skin will "hug" them really tight, and in some instances, you have to get wood jewelry cut out.

This applies to most mirriors since year, make and model are not given. There should be a cover plate on the inside that pops off. Some do have a screw holding them. Remove this panel and there should be either 3 screws or 3 nuts holding the mirrior on. If it is a power mirror you will need to unplug the wire which you should be able to pull up enough widthout removing the door panel. Simply remove screws or nuts and the mirror will come off. Reverse the process with the new one.
