I have a 2000 Eddie and just had the same problem, it ended up that the thermostat was sticking and the radiator had some build up in it. That in turn led to the water pump going down and stated leaking. First thing I would do is check the thermostat and hope that the reason because it's only a $10 fix. If that's not the problem I would flush the radiator and lastly, look at the water pump if the other two didn't work. I just shelled out $891 to have all this replaced.

When it's running hot you should hear the cooling fan running, if not that is your problem. If the cooling fan does not operate check the fuses, cooling fan relay, cooling fan switch and cooling fan motor. One of them is at fault.
How's the water pump?

Check to see if the engine coolant is full. Check to make sure that the engine is not running hot. The coolant circulates through the heater core, and if its not cooling the radiator it will not be able circulate to heat the vehicle
